The Drew's Team Impact

"Living with cystic fibrosis (CF) often comes with many additional expenses, and unfortunately unmet financial needs can impact factors such as lung function, nutritional status, and overall survival. As a CF care team, we are so fortunate to have a partnership with Drew’s Team. Drew’s Team has provided essential financial assistance to people with CF, which has allowed Drew's Team grant recipients to obtain necessary medications, pay medical bills, acquire transportation to and from the hospital, and maintain health insurance after job loss. Drew’s Team has also helped families to heat their homes and maintain their rent, so that they can continue to focus on their health. Because of our care team's partnership with Drew's Team, we can get families assistance quickly. Families caring for a sick child may not have time to complete a time intensive application process for assistance. We are grateful that we as a CF care team can connect directly with Drew's Team to get families the support they need and take one thing off of their plates. Families who receive grants have expressed profound appreciation for Drew's Team."

"People with CF and their families often report financial stress due to high health care costs in order to manage this chronic illness. Costs are directly related to health insurance (such as premiums, deductibles, copays, coinsurance) and to out-of-pocket costs for things not covered by health insurance (such as vitamins, over the counter medications, nutrition supplements). When people with CF and their families report this financial stress, our CF care team is so privileged to be able to offer support from the Drew's Team Foundation. People always share the relief and appreciation they feel from being able to be reimbursed directly from Drew's Team for the costs they have already had to pay out of pocket. They are grateful for the ease of the application process and the quick turnaround time. The relief allows them to focus on managing their health instead of worrying about how they will meet their other financial obligations."
